Hey everyone! I don't know about you, but I've been pretty sick these past few months and dealt with bronchitis, and then the flu, and it's safe to say I've become something of an expert in combating congestion. Through these experiences, I've discovered that a handful of reliable tricks can make a world of difference. If you're currently facing your own battle with congestion, worry not – I've got a collection of proven tricks to share with you 😇. So, let me spill the tea on the strategies that have consistently helped me breathe more comfortably, even when bronchitis and the flu were in the picture. 1. Inhalation
When it comes to congestion, the power of inhalation should never be underestimated! I use an inhaler but if you don't want to invest, you can just boil some water, grab a towel, and place your face above the bowl, and put the towel on your head. I usually add some eucalyptus essential oil to the water and breathe the steam through the nose and mouth.
2. Drinking Hot Liquids
We're well aware that staying hydrated is crucial when under the weather, and it becomes even more significant during bouts of congestion. Consuming warm liquids plays a key role in facilitating the liquefaction of mucus, ultimately aiding in decongestion and improved breathing. Personally, I lean towards options like green tea, herbal teas, or broths during these times. And let's not forget my comforting immune-boosting tea—it's become a personal favorite of mine!
3. Using a Saline Nasal Spray
Saline nasal spray, a key element in decongestion. I highly recommend this nasal spray, which also contains propolis, an ingredient known for its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. This nasal spray effectively clears your sinuses, providing relief and aiding in decongestion.
4. Gargle with Salty Water
Gargling with salty water is an age-old remedy that stills works like magic. The saline solution does more than just soothe; it creates an environment that kicks irritants to the curb, reducing inflammation and leaving you with a refreshed, congestion-free feel. To make the salty water, I don't follow an exact recipe, I usually just add a teaspoon of salt in a small glass of water, and mix until everything is stirred.
5. Using Gua Sha
Gua Sha isn't limited to Instagram-perfect skincare routines; it's also a superhero in the battle against congestion! Incorporating Gua Sha into my nighttime routine made a significant difference in relieving congestion. When I used Gua Sha during those congested moments, I could feel the mucus drainage, and within a few minutes, I experienced relief with a refreshed sensation. It's like a secret weapon for clearer breathing!
6. Mullein Extract
Ever tried the power of Mullein Extract? This natural remedy has been used for ages to ease respiratory issues and works like a charm. I mix a few drops in some water and drink it a few times per day.
7. Face Massage
One day I felt so congested that my sinus would HURT so much. Desperate for relief, I stumbled upon this video that turned out to be a game-changer. I can't emphasize its effectiveness enough! Despite its simplicity, it works wonders in alleviating sinus pain and congestion. And the best part? It's a quick and easy solution! Highly recommended.
